We were so happy for the interest that was expressed this month while we traveled to Crookston, MN to provide services at the WIC Clinic site. We had full schedules both of the days we were in town and hope to be able to see many more who are in need of preventive dental care when we return in August.
We were able to provide Oral Health Education for Bemidji Middle School's summer prorams. The children were very receptive to the information regarding how to brush their teeth, floss between their teeth, visiting the dentist, fluoride, sealants and learning about different foods and sodas! What great listeners!
Our time spent in Thief River Falls has been well received and our Community Based Oral Health Program has been welcomed with open arms by the clinic staff! We have seen quite a few patients and are hopeful that many more will continue to access our services when we return to the site in August!
We finally made it up to the Blackduck WIC Clinic to provide preventative services! We were able to see two children and hope to reach more children and adults when we are present at the clinic in the future. We will be in Blackduck the second Monday of every month, so be sure to contact our Project Coordinator at (218)-556-3666 to set up an appointment during the days we are in town.
Northern Dental Access Center has received a grant from Healthier Minnesota Community Clinic Fund which consists of a portable dental unit. A team which consists of a Dental Hygienist and a Dental Assistant will be able to perform preventative services such as cleanings, sealants, fluoride treatments, oral health instruction, and screening for decay and other oral health problems. Our goals include preventative services and proper referrals for the elimination of pain and disease for this under served population, as well as to provide education and increasing awareness of oral health and it's impact on overall wellness throughout our community.
